What a day!

I have had a really busy, but rewarding day today.
I hosted a ladies lunch, it is such a great way to catch up with lots of good friends all in one go.  8 of my teacher friends could make it and we all contributed to lunch, we ended up with quite the spread.
As usual I was busy in the kitchen prior to the arrival of everyone.
I made some very delish easter cupcakes, easter because they have little easter eggs on top...
I also made some pastry thingies, not too sure what they are called...
They were so easy to make.  I cut a square sheet of puff pastry into four, spread cream cheese on the each square, spread some crushed pineapple then sprinkled some ham on top.  Then cut from each corner towards the middle but not cutting right to the centre, then folded the corners in just like when you made wind mills as a child.
Cooked them in the oven until they were all puffed up and golden brown and they were quick and very tasty.  I could see these being done for a kid b'day party.

I also made some hot crossed buns!!! Woohoooo the new bread cookbook came through once again.  They were so nice!  They only thing is they were minus the all important cross.  Nearly everyone had arrived and the buns had to be cooked and the mixture to make the cross was in the piping bag and ended up being too thick, so I gave up.

After everyone had left I pottered around the garden, planned some spring bulbs and then finally got around to planting all the strawberry runners coming from my plants.  Over 30 new plants in total.  It will be interesting to see how many last!

The plan for the rest of the day, it is 4.55pm.  Cook a lovely dinner for the hubby (a new fish dish I found in the latest Foodtown mag) and then make an apron for my sister in law.  A flowery number with lace detailing.  I think it is going to be a cute one.

If anyone actually reads this I hope you achieved as much as I did, if not more.
I heart holidays!!
